Four Coin Day - November Metal Detecting

One of the best days metal detecting in years.  Bob and I researched and found an old farm homestead dating back to the 1700's.  Dug four coins including a 1723 Hibernia halfpenny, a 1757 George II halfpenny, two large cents, various colonial buttons, a three ring mini-ball, and a nice crotel bell...

The Catfish and the Snake

I had to post a picture of this on the Blog - Today Jenna and I were walking the Skippack Creek when we came across a water snake eating a small catfish - amazing sight to see nature at work - we watched for 5 - 10 minutes.  I was able to take a picture and shoot some video.

Blue Glass

I dug this nice blue Milk of Magnesia bottle today from my favorite site. It was really wedged in there good - I had to be careful not to break it while digging it out.

Spring Glass

Early spring digging in my favorite old dump location – I located a few nice finds. Most notable, a C.F.J Co. (Consolidated Fruit Jar Co.) Mason jar – dated in late 1800’s. Also a Waterman’s Ink bottle circa 1920.

November Surf Fishing

I did a little surf fishing today in the chilly November air.  Not much action, but managed to hook a nice catfish.  Colder temps are coming and fishing is done till next season.

Early Fall Creek Walk

Warmer temperatures on Sunday, so Jenna and I decided to do a creek walk and enjoy the day.
So much to discover along this stretch of the Skippack Creek – we walked the creek for a while then hiked along the ridge overlooking the creek.

King George II Halfpenny - 1746 to 1754

Metal detecting in the heat of July! Dug this King George II Halfpenny at an old farm site with my new detecting buddy Trevor.  Shame the date cannot be made out. It was an extremely hot day - quit by noon.

Easter Sunday Metal Detecting

Easter Sunday 2013 - Did some metal detecting in the late afternoon rain.  Dug up a Colonial copper - I believe it is a King George III, dated around mid-1700's.  Check out the telephone pole I came across in the middle of the woods.

A Few Finds Under the Floor

Removing the old floor boards from the garage this weekend I found a few early 1900's items - A whiskey flask and an old spoon.  The flask is dated around 1920. Can't wait to see what the rest of the project will uncover.
